Political Correctness in Social Media

Political Correctness in Social Media

Being politically correct should not be a need in social media. Social media is where people should be able to express what they believe in our what they want to say without being judged for not being “politically correct.” Being politically correct is kind to everyone in every aspect to the extreme. In other words you can’t try to say anything that in any way offends anyone based on race, gender, and sexual to the extreme. We are given the right to talk the way we want, Of Course we can’t be racist, sexist, or judge people because there serxual orientation. Our education system has been very big on being politically correct especially at the highschool and college level. Does this mean that we have to be “ politically correct no matter what. Don’t we have the freedom to talk without being judged on being “politically correct” to our friends and social Media. Who decides what it is to be politically correct? Is there anyone who is politically correct no matter what?

People are always so worked up when they see a picture of Donald Trump. People say “You got to be real ignorant, uneducated, and out of touch person to be a Trump supporter” on Twitter. They say because he doesn’t believe in being politically correct that he’s automatically racist. He’s a racist for “hating” Mexican. When he has stated multiple times that he is trying to strengthen our border patrol from people illegally crossing the border, not paying taxes, a insert percentage of them causing deaths in America every year. So is he still wrong for stating that we need to get illegal immigrants out. People might argue that he is generalizing the mexican community. Or for generalizing ILLEGAL immigrants when a lot of them are helping out communities.

As for our education system being politically correct is a huge deal. I have never had a teacher said something that offended anyone in any sort of way. I have teachers that have even said that oh I don’t know if that is “politically correct”. On the other hand the majority of teachers stress to express your opinion. Teachers are kinda scared on not being politically correct because they can be fired for not being politically correct. Teachers should be able to express their opinion in school, it’s a right that we all share. This doesn’t mean they should force it but if we a learning about politics we want to see tons of different views including the teachers.

So if we are taught to be politically correct but share our opinion. What if our opinions are not politically correct? Does this mean we are just straight up wrong or just not right. Our constitution states that we are given freedom of speech. It’s our first amendment! America is based on the belief of being able to speak your opinion. Again if you’re not politically correct that doesn’t mean you’re racist. People are angered when they hear the black communities are getting into so much problems because of poverty. But they have the highest percentage in america of poverty at 27.4 percent. This is what is the flaw for being politically correct.

All this brings me to a question that kills me everyday… who decides on what is politically correct? It’s like a penalty that is called for several different things. It never has solved a problem. So why do we have to be “politically correct” when we speak our opinion. We don’t even know what is or  isn’t politically correct. During a generation where we express our ideas on social media why do we limited. We are taught to be polite but share our ideas right or wrong. If someone is wrong that doesn’t mean they’re not correct. So why force the idea of us having to be politically correct.
